Hands on Literacy

mother reads book to child

A unique community partner-based KQED project, Hands on Literacy helps enrich early literacy experiences between parents and children. KQED works with Bay Area organizations to train community partners who facilitate monthly family workshops using a multimedia approach. At Hands On Literacy sessions, families receive free books, activity tips, and learn strategies for using educational public media to support early learning and development.

If your organization is interested in becoming a KQED Hands On Literacy partner, contact us at EarlyLearning@kqed.org.

Major funding for the Hands On Literacy project is provided by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and The Stanley Langendorf Foundation.
