SPARK Television Production Internship

Internship Summary:
"SPARK" is a weekly television series that began airing on KQED in March 2003. "SPARK" is a local show - both in content and distribution - casting a spotlight on Bay Area visual and performing artists and arts organizations. "SPARK" is seeking 1-2 interns to participate directly with staff to assist in developing and producing our program. We require of each intern, a minimum of 16 hours a week, on a regularly established schedule that takes into account the intern's academic schedule. We will only select students who can earn course credit at the college level (no exceptions); BEFORE applying, students are required to inquire if they can receive course credit from their counselors, major department heads, or professors in order to be considered! Once a college student has been accepted for the internship, the individual may provide "Proof of Credit" or a signed verification form from an a counselor, major department head, or professor before starting the KQED internshp program. A verification form obtained from the Human Resources department is also required upon acceptance into the KQED internship.

Internship Duties:

  • Researches arts related topics, as assigned.
  • Organizes and logs tapes and proposals.
  • Accompanies field producers on remote shoots.
  • Enters data in FileMaker Pro database.
  • Organizes and prepares mailings and special events.
  • Makes phone calls, as requested.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned.

Internship Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational and research skills.
  • Knowledge of Bay Area arts organizations, artists and events.
  • Experience with Filemaker Pro, MS Word, Excel a plus.
  • Willing to learn.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
