Internship Summary:
KQED TV is seeking two interns to participate directly with television production staff to assist in KQED's News and Public Affairs series: "This Week in Northern California" - TWINC - (a weekly round-table discussion and news analysis of political topics) and "Truly, CA" (a showcase for documentary films about California made by independent filmmakers). The Public Affairs Programming and Documentaries Internship is a terrific opportunity for production experience. We require of each intern, a minimum of 16 hours a week, on a regularly established schedule that takes into account the intern's academic schedule. Interns should possess a strong interest in learning about the broad activities involved in television production. Screen credit is given under the heading of production interns upon discretion of the internship supervisor.
Internship Duties:
- Accompanies staff and crew on remote shoots.
- Assists in coordinating studio audience & production elements.
- Organizes and prepares mailings.
- Organizes, logs and maintains video archives.
- Helps to organize research for producers & talent.
- Publicizes calls for documentary entries.
- Processes documentary submissions.
- Assists in post production of selected films.
- Collaborates on promotion, outreach, and the series web site.
- Makes phone calls, as requested.
- Performs administrative tasks.
- Performs other production related projects as assigned.
Internship Qualifications:
- Highly motivated.
- Strong interest in public affairs and news topics.
- Passion for public television and documentary films.
- Interest in post production and programming.
- Clear and effective communication skills.
- Strong organizational and research skills.
- Excellent attention-to-detail.
- Ability to adapt from project-to-project.
- Willing to take on all aspects of the job with enthusiasm, from the most mundane to more exciting tasks.
- Familiarity with local and state media arts organizations a plus.
- Windows proficiency a plus.
