QUEST Content (Multimedia) Internship

QUEST is a science, environment and nature project, launched in February 2007.
The series explores exciting Northern California developments in science, technology
and the environment, generating exclusive content through each of its media
platforms. Every year QUEST produces 40 TV stories, shot in High-Definition,
approximately 50 radio segments, a comprehensive series of educator resources,
and a robust web site with original, interactive content. Working in partnership
with 15 Bay Area science, environment and nature organizations, QUEST introduces
its audiences to discoveries in their own backyards through innovative multi-platform

Internship Summary
QUEST is seeking a content intern, who will work under the supervision of the Associate Media Producer to help the QUEST TV, Radio and Interactive (Web) teams. The internship is 16 hours per week, unpaid, with flexible scheduling. The intern will support and learn about three different platforms - TV, radio and web.
Internship Duties:
- - Completes background research for story ideas and finds sources and
supporting research for features on QUEST TV, Radio and web platforms.
- Edits QUEST Community Science Blog posts when present from local scientists and writers.
- Produces multimedia web content, including flickr photo sets, slide shows and interactive maps.
- Writes original posts for QUEST Community Science blog as assigned.
- Completes outreach to science and environmental blogger community about QUEST stories and features.
- Accompanies segment producers on field shoots and interviews.
- Researches photos, audio, B-roll and other materials for QUEST segments.
- Logs tapes and transcribes interviews from field shoots, as needed.
- Attends editorial meetings, if internship schedule permits
- Helps with some clerical tasks as needed.
Internship Qualifications:
- Strong research skills and the ability to organize data and information
- Some experience with any of the three platforms: radio or TV broadcast or web production.
- Familiarity with databases and Web tools/applications like "tags", "blogs", "wikis" recommended.
- Strong organizational and research skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Ability to adapt from project to project.
- Ability to interface cross-platform to assist Interactive (Web), Radio, and TV staff as assigned.
- Highly motivated.

To qualify for this internship, you must be a student currently enrolled in an accredited academic institution and be able to earn course credit at the college level (no exceptions). When sending your resume and cover letter, please be certain to reference your the internship(s) of interest, ability to receive course credit as a college student, and available term within the body of the cover letter.
All internships are unpaid.
Once a college student has been accepted for the internship, the individual will be required to provide "Proof of Credit" or a signed verification form from a counselor, major department head, or professor before beginning the KQED internship program.
